Hungarian Dance No. 5 - Brahms

No. 5 is probably the most popular Hungarian dance. I like it in the orchestra rather than on solo piano or accompanied. Why? For one main reason: the cymbals. The piece is very percussive. On the piano, this becomes a syncopated baseline. I feel that this makes the piece too bottom heavy. It's better with an accompanied solo instrument, but is still best with an instrument. The cymbals add important rhythm while not weighing down the piece. It also helps that this piece meets perfectly with a bit of scripture:

"Praise Him with clash of cymbals. Praise Him with resounding cymbals." (Psalm 150:5 TLV)
